Rigix tablets (Cetirizine Hydrochloride) by AGP 10mg is a four-season one solution, 30 film-coated tablets. It is an anti-allergic & antihistamine tablet. It provides 24 hours of relief from: sneezing, runny nose, itchy & watery eyes, itchy nose or throat, itching, dermatitis, and eczema.

Cetirizine hydrochloride (BP) 10mg.
Dosage & Instructions: Adults & children over 12 years: One tablet to be taken daily or as directed by physician. Do not store above 30°C. Protect from light. Keep medicine out of the reach of children. To be sold on the prescription of a registered medical practitioner only.
Indications: Rigix tablets are used as a basic treatment of seasonal rhinitis & conjunctivitis, perennial allergic rhinitis, pruritus & urticaria of allergic origin. It is also indicated for the symptomatic relief from: sneezing, runny nose, Itchy & watery eyes, itchy nose or throat itching, dermatitis & eczema.
PROPERTIES: Antiallergic agent: allergic reaction inhibitor. In experimental animals, cetirizine exhibits an anti-H1 activity without any significant anticholinergic and antiserotonin effects. At pharmacologically active doses, cetirizine induces neither sedation nor behavioural modifications. Cetirizine exhibits a powerful and lasting antagonistic effect, particularly selective at the level of the H1-receptors. In human pharmacology, its peripheral activity is demonstrated by the clearly significant inhibition of:
The immediate wheal and flare reaction induced by intracutaneous injection of histamine.
The endogenous histamine is released in vivo as a result of stimulation by 48/80.
The immediate allergic skin reaction triggered by an intracutaneous injection of pollen
The oedematous skin reaction induced by substance P or VIP (vasoactive intestinal polypeptide).
The immediate allergic nasal reaction is triggered by the instillation of an allergen.
It substantially reduces the asthmatic patient’s bronchial hyperreactivity to histamine.
Contraindication: No contraindication has been declared to date.
Adverse Reactions: As far as adverse Rigix tablets reactions are concerned, cetirizine administered in recommended doses does not differ from placebo (a dummy pill with no active medicine). It is very well tolerated. The side effects are rare or very mild. It may cause dry mouth, headache & stomach discomfort. No significant drowsiness or behavioral changes (unlike older antihistamines).
Special Precautions: At therapeutic doses, cetirizine does not potentiate the effects of alcohol (for a blood concentration of 0.8g/l). However, caution is imperative.
Pregnancy & Lactation: Teratological studies carried out in animals did not evidence any particular malformation. However, as a precaution, cetirizine should not be administered to pregnant women during the period of organogenesis. The same applies to the lactation period.
Driving or Operating Machinery: Studies carried out in healthy volunteers receiving 20 or 25 mg/day did not evidence any change in vigilance or reaction time. However, the patient should be advised not to exceed these doses and to be cautious in this respect.
Over Dosage: Sedation may be a symptom of overdose; it appears after a single dose of 50mg. There is no specific antidote to date. In case of massive overdosage, a gastric lavage should be carried out as soon as possible.
