PROFLOX

PROFLOX (Ciprofloxacin Tablets U.S.P.) by FEROZSONS Laboratories is 10 film-coated tablets of 250 mg. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, and it works by killing or stopping the growth of bacteria.

Package Contains: Each PROFLOX package contains 10 film-coated tablets of 250mg & a leaflet. It is also available as 500mg tablets.  PROFLOX

Composition: Broad-spectrum antibiotic
Each film coated tablet contains:
Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride U.S.P.
eq. to Ciprofloxacin 250 mg.

Dosage: As directed by the physician. (See literature insert for details)

Uses: PROFLOX tablets are used for the following:

Uncomplicated cystitis:

  • Simple uncomplicated acute cystitis
  • Simple uncomplicated acute cystitis in premenopausal adult women
  • Recurrent cystitis in women

Complicated urinary tract infections:

  • Acute uncomplicated infection of lower urinary tract (simple cystitis)

Acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease:

  • Acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease including chronic bronchitis
  • Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
  • Exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Acute bacterial rhinosinusitis:

  • Acute bacterial sinusitis

Otitis media acute: PROFLOX (Ciprofloxacin) is a fluoroquinolone antibacterial indicated in adults (≥18 years of age) where indicated. Treatment of the following infections caused by designated, susceptible bacteria in pediatric patients

  • Skin and Skin Structure Infections
  • Complicated Intra-Abdominal Infections
  • Infections of Bone and Joint
  • Infectious Diarrhea
  • Typhoid Fever
  • Uncomplicated Urethral & Cervical Gonococcal Infections
  • Inhalational Anthrax (post-exposure)
  • Urinary Tract Infections
  • Uncomplicated Acute Cystitis
  • Complicated Urinary Tract Infections
  • Plaque
  • Acute Sinusitis
  • Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis
  • Acute Pyelonephritis
  • Bacterial prostatitis

Side Effects: 1% to 10%: Central Nervous System: Neurological signs and symptoms (children 2%), includes dizziness, insomnia, nervousness, somnolence), headache (IV administration), restlessness (IV administration).

  • Dermatologic: Rash (children 2%, adults 1%).
  • Gastrointestinal: Diarrhea (children 5%, adults 2%), vomiting (children 5%, adults 1%), nausea/abdominal pain (children 3%), dyspepsia/heartburn (children 3%, adults <1%), nausea (IV administration).
  • Hepatic: Elevated AST (adults 1%), ALT (adults 1%).
  • Local: Injection site reactions (IV administration).
  • Respiratory: Rhinitis (children 2%).
    Miscellaneous: Fever (children 2%; adults <1%).
    Carcinogenesis, Mutagenesis, Impairment of Fertility: In a lifetime bioassay in rats, Ciprofloxacin caused no carcinogenic or mutagenic potential. Ciprofloxacin caused no impairment of fertility or reproductive functions in oral doses as well.
    Effects on ability to drive and use machines: Due to the neurological side effects, Ciprofloxacin may cause dizziness; thus, the ability to drive or to operate machinery may be impaired.
