Dosage: As directed by a physician. It can be taken orally (with or without food). Avoid taking with minerals (calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium) as they interfere with absorption; separate doses by several hours.

Uses: Moxifloxacin is used for bacterial infections; it is used to reduce bacterial symptoms, including.

  • Respiratory infections (community-acquired pneumonia, sinusitis, bronchitis).
  • Skin and soft tissue infections.
  • Intra-abdominal infections.

It can also be used for other infections such as Eye infections (as moxifloxacin eye drops).

Side Effects: Some common side-effects are vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, changes in taste, Trouble sleeping & some serious side effects such as skin reactions like rash, itching, & effecting the heartbeat.

Warnings & Precautions:

  • It can increase risk of tendon inflammation or rupture (higher risk in older adults, steroid use or kidney disease), Stop the medicine and see a doctor if you feel tendon pain or swelling.
  • It may affect heart rhythm (QT prolongation) irregular heartbeat. Risk increases if you have: Heart disease, low potassium or magnesium, history of arrhythmia.
  • It can cause nerve symptoms (tingling, numbness) in rare cases. Avoid it taking with other QT-prolonging drugs.
  • To minimize the risk of side effects, use the medication exactly as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
