Lowplat Plus
Lowplat Plus (Clopidogrel & Aspirin) ) is the 75 mg tablets. It is a fixed bi-layered combination containing clopidogrel enteric-coated aspirin. It is used for ischemic events (a type of cardiovascular event occurs when blood flow to an organ is reduced due to a blockage.)
Package contains: Each pack of Lowplat Plus contains 10 tablets of 75mg and an inner leaflet. It is also available as 150mg tablets.
Composition:
Each film coated bi-layered tablet contains:
Clopidogrel 75mg as Clopidogrel bisulfate USP
Aspirin USP 75mg as enteric coated.

Dosage: Use as advised by the physician.
Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose is one tablet once daily.
Indications: Lowplat Plus is indicated for the prevention of ischemic events, myocardial infarction (heart attack), stroke and cardiovascular death in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).
Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is a syndrome due to decreased blood flow in the coronary arteries such that part of the heart muscle is unable to function properly or dies.
Side Effects: The drug is generally well tolerated. Side effects that have been reported include abdominal pain, dyspepsia, gastritis, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, constipation, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, ulceration, neutropenia, rash, palpitation, syncope, drowsiness, asthenia, neuralgia, paresthesia and vertigo.
Warnings and Precautions:
General: Clopidogrel should be used with caution in patients who may be at risk of increased bleeding from trauma, surgery, or other pathological conditions.
GI Bleeding: Lowplat Plus Prolongs the Bleeding Time. Lowplat Plus should be used with caution in patients who have lesions with a propensity to bleed (such as ulcers).
Reye’s syndrome: Reye’s syndrome may develop. in individuals who have chicken pox, influenza or flu symptoms.
Nasal polyps or nasal allergies: Lowplat Plus should be administered with caution to patients with nasal polyps or nasal allergies.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Adverse effects are increased in the mother and the fetus following chronic ingestion of Aspirin. Because of possible adverse effects on the neonate and the potential for increased maternal blood loss, Lowplat Plus should be avoided during the last three months of pregnancy.
Lowplat Plus should be avoided-in nursing mothers because of the possible risk of developing Reye’s syndrome. Regular use of high doses of Aspirin could impair platelet function and produce hypoprothrombinemia in infants if neonatal vitamin K levels are low.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to Clopidogrel
- Hypersensitivity to Aspirin and/or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAIDs)
- Recent history of gastrointestinal bleeding
- Active pathological bleeding such as peptic ulcer or intracranial hemorrhage, or bleeding disorders like hemophilia.
