Kestine
Kestine (Ebastine) 10mg tablets are allergy relief medicine. It is a piperidine derivative, a non-sedating antihistamine, with a long duration of action. It does not have significant sedatives or antimuscarinic actions.
Package contains: Each pack of Kestine contains 14 Film-coated tablets of 10mg & a leaflet. The tablets are also available in 20mg tablets. It is also available as a 30ml liquid.

Dosage & Administration:
Allergic rhinitis: The recommended dose is 10mg Kestine once daily. In the event of severe symptoms, the dose may be increased to 20mg once daily. This can be taken as two doses of 10mg or as one dose of 20mg.
Urticaria: The adult dose is 10mg of oral Kestine daily.
Allergic dermatitis: The adult dose is 10mg of oral Kestine daily.
Indications: It is indicated in the symptomatic treatment of;
- Allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial) associated or not with allergic conjunctivitis (someone experiencing symptoms of a stuffy or runny nose due to allergies is likely to also experience eye irritation symptoms like itchiness, redness, and watering in the eyes as well).
- Idiopathic chronic urticaria (also known as chronic hives. It is a skin condition that causes itchy, raised red bumps to appear on the skin).
- Allergic dermatitis (also known as allergic contact dermatitis. It is an itchy rash that occurs when the skin comes into contact with an allergen).
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or any excipient.
Warnings & Precautions:
- Caution should be taken when prescribing it in combination with azole antimycotic agents, ketoconazole and itraconazole, or macrolide antibiotics, such as erythromycin.
- Caution should be taken when prescribing it with drugs belonging to antituberculosis type rifampicin.
- It should be used with caution in patients with severe hepatic insufficiency.
- Ebastine at recommended therapeutic doses does not affect the ability to drive or operate machines. However, in sensitive subjects who react unusually to the medicine, it is advisable to know the individual reactions before patient drives or carries out complicated activities somnolence or dizziness may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation: There is limited amount of data from the use of ebastine in pregnant women. As a precautionary measure, it is preferable to avoid the use of the medicine during pregnancy.
It is not known whether ebastine is excreted in human milk. As a precautionary measure, it is preferable to avoid the use of the medicine during lactation.
Adverse Effects: The commonly reported undesirable effects were headache, somnolence, dry mouth, hypersensitivity reactions (such as anaphylaxis and angioedema), nervousness, insomnia, dizziness, hypoesthesia, dysgeusia, palpitations, tachycardia, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, hepatitis, cholestasis, liver function test abnormal urticaria, rash, dermatitis, menstrual disorder, oedema, asthenia, Increased appetite, and weight increased.
