Senna extract 103mg

Soyabean extract (essential phospholipids) 25mg

Dosage: Children (above 1 year): Half to one tablet at bedtime. Adults: 1 tablet at bedtime; in severe cases, 2-3 tablets at bedtime or as directed by the physician.

Usage/ Indications: Ezilax is used in the treatment of constipation and for bowel evacuation. It is used in the treatment of mild to severe constipation and for bowel evacuation.

Pharmacology: Ezilax is an anthraquinone stimulant laxative which is used to treat constipation and for bowel evacuation. Colonic bacteria liberate the active anthraquinones from Sennoside glycosides, and the effect usually occurs within 6-12 hours of administration.

Pharmacokinetics: There is some absorption of anthraquinone laxatives following oral administration. Absorbed anthraquinone is metabolized in the liver. Unabsorbed Ezilax is hydrolyzed in the colon by bacteria to release the active free anthraquinone. Excretion occurs in the urine and faeces and also in other secretions, including breast milk.

Adverse Effects: Ezilax may cause mild abdominal discomfort such as colic or cramps. Prolonged use may cause diarrhea.

Contraindications: Ezilax should not be given to patients with intestinal obstruction or with undiagnosed abdominal symptoms. Care should be taken in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Prolonged use should be avoided.
