Entamizole DS

Entamizole DS (Diloxanide Furoate/ Metronidazole) 500mg/400mg 15 tablets are used for the treatment of amoebiasis & giardiasis. It is an approach in the management of amoebias that benefits over the previously available regimens.

It is a combination of diloxanide furoate, a luminal amoebicide, with metronidazole benzoate, the potent tissue amoebicide. Entamizole thus constitutes a potent and comprehensive therapy for all forms of amoebiasis.

Package Contains: Each packet of Entamizole DS contains 15 film-coated tablets in a single strip. It is also available in suspension/syrup form.

Each film coated tablet contains:

Diloxanide Furoate U.S.P 500mg

Metronidazole U.S.P 400mg.

Indication: Acute amoebic dysentery, chronic intestinal amoebiasis, Giardiasis, Hepatic amoebiasis, and other systemic diseases due to E. Histolytica.

Dosage: The recommended dosage of Entamizole DS for adults is 1 tablet thrice daily for 5 days. In refectory cases, the treatment can be continued up to 10 days, if desired by physician prolonged administration e.g, as prophylaxis, is not recommended.

Contraindications & Warnings: Hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients. Avoid during pregnancy. Prolonged administration, e.g, as a prophylactic, is not recommended.

Regular clinical and laboratory monitoring (especially leucocyte count) is advised if administration for more than 10 days is continued to be necessary, and patients should be monitored for adverse reactions, such as peripheral or central neuropathy, Cockayne syndrome.

Treatment of Overdosage: Early gastric lavage is recommended for gross overdosage. There is so specific treatment.
