Diatazox

Diatazox (Nitazoxanide) by S.J. & G. is a 500 mg, 2×10 film-coated tablet. It contains the active Ingredient, nitazoxanide, a synthetic antiprotozoal agent for Oral administration. It is used for diarrhoea.

Package Contains: Each Diatazox package contains 500mg 2×10 tablets & a leaflet. It is also available in the form of suspension 60 ml.

Composition: Each film-coated tablet contains:

Dosage: 1 to 2 tablets twice daily or as directed by the physician.

Indications & Usage: Diarrhoea caused by Giardia lamblia or Cryptosporidium parvum: Diatazox Tablets (patients 12 years and older) are indicated for the treatment of diarrhoea caused by Giardia lamblia or Cryptosporidium parvum.

Adverse Reactions: In controlled and uncontrolled clinical studies of HIV-uninfected patients aged 12 years and older who received various dosage regimens of nitazoxanide Tablets, the most common adverse events reported regardless of causality assessment were: abdominal pain (6.6%), diarrhea (4.2%), headache (3.1%) and nausea (3.0%).

Contraindications: Diatazox is contraindicated in patients with a prior hypersensitivity to nitazoxanide or any other ingredient in the formulation.

Precautions: The pharmacokinetics of nitazoxanide in patients with compromised renal or hepatic function have not been studied. Therefore, Diatazox must be administered with caution to patients with hepatic and biliary disease, to patients with renal disease, and to patients with combined renal and hepatic diseases.

Storage/ Instructions: 

Store between 15°C-30°C.
