Cipesta Tablets
Cipesta Tablets (Ciprofloxacin) by Getz Pharma is a 10 tablets of 500mg. It is used to treat serious bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections, lower respiratory tract infections, and sinus infections.
Package Contains: Each Cipesta package Contains 10 tablets of 500mg & a leaflet. It is also available as 250 mg tablets.
Composition: Cipesta tablets 500mg Each film-coated tablet contains: 
Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride USP equivalent to ciprofloxacin 500mg.
Dosage: As directed by the Physician or see package insert for full prescribing information.
Uses/ Therapeutic Indications: Cipesta Tablets are indicated for the following:
Adults:
- Lower respiratory tract infections due to gram-negative bacteria.
- Chronic suppurative otitis media
- Acute exacerbation of chronic sinusitis, especially if these are caused by gram-negative bacteria.
- Urinary tract infections.
- Genital tract infections.
- Infection of the gastrointestinal tract.
- Intra-abdominal infections in children and adolescents.
- Broncho-pulmonary infections in cystic fibrosis caused by pseudomonas aeroginusa.
- Complicated urinary tract infections and Pyelonephritis.
- Inhalation anthrax.
- Ciprofloxacin may also be used to treat Severe infections in children and adolescents when this is considered to be necessary Treatment should be initiated only by physicians who are experienced in the treatment of cystic fibrosis and/or severe infections in children and adolescents.
Dosage & Administration: Cipesta tablets can be taken independent of mealtimes. Ciprofloxacin should be administered at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after magnesium/aluminum antacids or sucralfate, didanosine chewable/buffered tablets or pediatric powder for oral solution, other highly buffered drugs or other products containing calcium, iron or zinc.
Adults: Cipesta tablets should be administered orally to adults as described in the dosage guideline table. The dosage range for adults is 100- 750 mg twice daily. The duration of treatment depends upon the severity of infection. The usual duration is 7 to 14 days, however for severe and complicated infections, more prolonged therapy may be required.
Side Effects/ Adverse Reactions:
Common: Nausea and diahrrea.
Uncommon: Mycotic superinfection, eosinophilia, anorexia, psychomotor hyperactivity/agitation, headache, dizziness, fever & increase in blood alkaline phosphatase etc.
Rare: Antibiotic-associated colitis ( very rare with possible fetal outcome), Leucopenia, anemia, neutropenia, abnormal prothrombin time and increased amylase etc.
Very Rare: Hemolytic anemia, agranulocytosis, pancytopenia (life threatening), bone marrow depression (life threatening), anaphylactic reaction, muscular weakness and erythema etc.
Warnings: Serious adverse reactions including Tendinitis, Tendon rupture, Peripheral eripheral neuropathy, Central nervous system effects, and exacerbation of Myasthenia Gravis.
Fluoroquinolones including Ciprofloxacin may exacerbate muscle weakness in patients with myasthenia gravis. Avoid Ciprofloxacin in patients with a known history of myasthenia gravis. Reserve Ciprofloxacin for use in patients who have no alternative treatment.
Options for the following indications:
1: Accute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.
2: Accute sinusitis.
3: Accute uncomplicated cystitis.
Contraindications:
- Ciprofloxacin is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin, any member of the quinolone class of antimicrobial agents or any of the product components.

Pregnancy: Ciprofloxacin should not be used during pregnancy unless the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to both fetus & mother.
Instructions: Store at 25°C (Excursions permitted between 15°C – 30°C).
