Azinyth (AZITHROMYCIN USP) 500mg 6 Tablets. Azithromycin Tablets are an antibiotic & belong to a group of antibiotics called macrolides. It is used to treat infections caused by bacteria.

Package Contains: Each pack of Azinyth contains 6 tablets of 500mg & a leaflet. It is also available in 250mg.

Composition: Each Film Coated Tablet Contains: Azinyth

Azithromycin (as Dihydrate) USP 500mg.

Dosage: As directed by your physician or as indicated on the package insert for full prescribing information.

Uses: This medicine is prescribed to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including:

  • Respiratory Tract Infections: Throat infections (pharyngitis, tonsillitis), Bronchitis (acute or chronic), Pneumonia (community-acquired),
  • Ear, Nose, and Throat Infections: Otitis media (middle ear infection), Sinus.
  • Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Cellulitis, Impetigo (skin infection), Wound infections.
  • Genital/Urinary Tract Infections: Chlamydia trachomatis infections (single-dose treatment), Cervicitis or urethritis.
  • Gastrointestinal Infections: (Traveler’s diarrhea caused by certain bacteria, Typhoid fever (sometimes used off-label).
  • Dental/Oral Infections: Used as an alternative to penicillin for tooth or gum infections.

Side Effects: Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Common:

  • Nausea or vomiting.
  • Stomach pain or cramps.
  • Diarrhea or loose stools.
  • Headache.
  • Fatigue or dizziness.

Less Common/ serious:

  • Allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling of lips/face).
  • Severe diarrhea (possible Clostridium difficile infection).
  • Irregular heartbeat or chest palpitations (QT prolongation).
  • Jaundice, dark urine (liver involvement).
  • Hearing changes (rare, reversible).

Warning & Precautions: Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Azithromycin if you have or have had any of the following conditions:

  • kidney problems.
  • Your blood levels of potassium or magnesium are too low.
  • Liver problems.
  • Heart problems such as long QT syndrome (shown on an electrocardiogram or ECG machine).
  • If you have ever had a serious allergic reaction causing swelling of the face and throat, possibly with breathing problems, rash, fever, swollen glands, or an increase in eosinophils (a certain type of white blood cell).
