Ascard-75 (Gastro-resistant Aspirin Tablets BP) ATCO safety-coated aspirin 75 mg has extra protection & enteric-coated aspirin 30 tablets. It is for aspirin therapy users. Acetylsalicylic acid, commonly known as Aspirin, is a widely used medication with analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and antiplatelet effects.
It is specially formulated enteric coated for extra protection of the stomach, designed not to disintegrate in the stomach but to dissolve in the small intestine & helps to protect the stomach from injury which may result from ingestion of plain, buffered, or highly buffered aspirin, and the patient still gets the same serum salicylate levels and anti-platelet activity as with other forms of aspirin.
Package Contains: Each package of Ascard-75 contains 30 tablets of 75 mg and an enclosed informational leaflet. Ascard (Enteric Coated Aspirin) is available in 75mg and 150mg strengths. 
Composition:
Each enteric-coated tablet contains:
Acetylsalicylic Acid (Aspirin BP) 75 mg.
Indications / Uses: Ascard-75 (enteric coated aspirin) tablets are indicated for the prophylaxis of myocardial infarction and unstable angina (Angina Pectoris), Transient ischemic heart attacks, stroke, prophylaxis in surgical thromboembolism, arthritis pains etc. Additionally, Prophylactic use of Ascard is also recommended to avoid the chances of thromboembolic disorder.
The Ascard tablets are also indicated in conditions requiring chronic or long-term aspirin therapy for pain and or inflammation, e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease), ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, Reiter’s syndrome, and fibrositis. It is also used for the relief of pain and inflammation in rheumatic fever.
Dosage: Use as prescribed by the physician.
Prophylaxis of MI (Myocardial infarction): 75 mg to 300 mg daily.
TIA (Transient ischemic attacks) prevention and stroke: 75 mg to 300 mg once daily.
Children: As directed by the physician.
The dosage can be increased or modified according to the clinical situation of the individual patient under a physician’s direction.
Warning: Patients with a history of ulcers should consult a doctor before using this medicine. In case of persistent stomach upset, consult a doctor. In pregnancy, consult a doctor before using this medicine.
Children and teenagers should not use this medicine for chicken pox or flu symptoms, before a doctor is consulted about Reye’s syndrome, a rare but serious illness. If pain persists for more than 10 days, or if redness is present, or in arthritic or rheumatic conditions affecting children under 12 years, consult a physician immediately. Discontinue use if dizziness, ringing in the ears, or impaired hearing occurs. If you experience persistent or unexplained stomach upset, consult your physician
Pregnancy & Lactation: The drug should not be used during the last 3 months of pregnancy unless specially directed by the doctor, as it may cause problems in the fetus or complications during pregnancy. As with any medicine, in case of pregnancy and lactation, the drug should be taken under medical advice.
Adverse Reaction / Side Effects: Gastrointestinal Reactions: Stomach pain, heartburn, nausea or vomiting, hospitalization for gastrointestinal disorder (4.9%, 3.5%).
In the AMIS and other trials, plain aspirin-treated patients had increased rates of gross gastrointestinal irritation were not significantly increased in subjects treated for unstable angina with buffered aspirin in solution.
