Ketress

Ketress (levamisole syrup) is a 15ml liquid (syrup). It contains Levamisole Hydrochloride, an antihelminthic medicine effective against intestinal worms such as roundworms, hookworms, and threadworms. It works by paralyzing the worms, which are then expelled naturally from the body.

Package contains: Each pack of Ketress syrup contains a bottle of 15ml syrup and a leaflet with instructions for use. It is also available in tablets. katress

Composition: Each 5 ml contains:
Levamisole Hydrochloride 40 mg
Inactive ingredients include flavoring agents, sweeteners, and preservatives.

Dosage: As directed by the physician. Give Ketress as a single dose, preferably after a light meal.

Age Group Dose
1–4 years 5 ml (one 5 ml spoonful)
5–15 years 10 ml (two 5 ml spoonfuls)
16 years and over 15 ml (three 5 ml spoonfuls)

Regular dosing may be required to prevent recurrent infection. In case of severe hookworm infection, a second standard dosage should be given, one or seven days after the first dose. See leaflet for directions for use or use as directed by the physician.

Uses / Indications: Ketress Syrup is used for the treatment of roundworm, hookworm, and threadworm infections. It helps prevent reinfection of intestinal worms. It may also be used as an immunomodulator under medical supervision.

Side Effects: Common side effects: Nausea or vomiting. Mild abdominal pain. Dizziness or headache.

Less common side effects: Skin rash or itching, Fatigue or weakness, rarely, allergic reaction (stop use and contact a doctor if swelling or difficulty breathing occurs).

Contraindications: Known hypersensitivity to Levamisole or any component of the syrup. Should not be used in children below 1 year unless prescribed by a physician.

Precautions: Use only on the prescription of a registered medical practitioner. Keep out of reach of children. Do not exceed the recommended dose. If symptoms persist or reappear, consult your doctor.

Pregnancy & Lactation: Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare professional.

Pregnancy: Although studies in animals have shown that ‘Ketress’ produces no teratogenic effects, current medical practice requires that the benefits of any drug used during pregnancy should be weighed against the possible dangers.

Lactation: No special precautions.
