Milfone C

Milfone C 40ml Injection of Calcium, Magnesium & Phosphorus with Dextrose by Star is for veterinary use only. It is injected into animals like camels, horses, cows, and sheep through I.V (Intravenously) and S.C (subcutaneously). It is used for the management of mineral deficiencies and related conditions in animals.

Package Contains: Each pack of Milfone C contains a 40 ml injection liquid in a glass vial and a leaf inserted inside.

Composition: Each 100 ml contains: Milfone C

  • Calcium Gluconate 20.83 gm
  • Magnesium Hypophosphite 5.33gm
  • Magnesium Chloride 2.00 gm
  • Calcium – D – Saccharate 1.00 gm
  • Boric Acid 4.33 gm
  • Dextrose (Anhydrous) 20.00gm

Indications/Uses: It is indicated for treatment of Hypocalcaemia, Lactation tetany, in poor Labour at parturition, Milk fever, and its complications.

Detailed Indications/Uses:  It is indicated for the following:

Hypocalcaemia: low calcium concentration in the blood.
Lactation tetany: muscle stiffness, tremors, weakness, or spasms associated with mineral imbalance during lactation.
Poor labour at parturition: weak or ineffective uterine contractions associated with calcium deficiency.
Milk fever: acute hypocalcaemia, particularly around or shortly after calving in dairy cattle.
Complications of milk fever: conditions associated with or following severe hypocalcaemia.

Directions & Precautions: While injecting subcutaneous or intravenous injection of Milfone, Milfone-C or Mild-D-Forte the following precautions are necessary to be observed.

Incompatibilities: Milfone, Milfone-C, Mil-D-Forte, due to containing calcium, are incompatible with menbutone, methylprednisolone sodium phosphate, promethazine hydrochloride, sodium bicarbonate intravenous infusion, streptomycin sulphate, tetracyclines, and all drugs in the form of carbonate, phosphate or sulfa salts. Do not inject calcium preparations with the above-mentioned salts.

  1. The syringe and needle should be properly sterile.
  2. The air in the syringe and needle should be thoroughly exhausted before filling and injecting.
  3. The temperature of injection should correspond with the body temperature of the animals to avoid shivering.
  4. Intravenous injections should be given very slowly within 15 to 30 minutes, preferably with 16 Number Needle
  5. Subcutaneous injection should be given at two sites instead of one.
  6. The hastily injected material reduces the pulse rate of the animal and makes it irregular, which is likely to cause heart failure in some cases, although the chances are very rare.
  7. In case no response is observed after the first injection, the dose can be repeated after 3 to 4 hours.
  8. Milfone, Milfone-C, or Mil-D-Forte is not recommended for an increase in Milk Volume.
  9. Milfone, Milfone-C or Mil-D-Forte is not recommended to increase the weight of the animal.
  10. Some animals require a larger quantity of calcium, so Star has introduced a 450 ml pack in addition to 300 ml Milfone-C.

  • Sheep & Goats: 30-60 ml
