Biodroxil

Biodroxil (Cefadroxil) 250mg/5ml  strength granule for oral suspension of 60 mL (when reconstituted). It is used to treat upper and lower respiratory infections, urinary infections, and skin infections.

Package Contains: Each Biodroxil package contains a suspension bottle of 60 mL when reconstituted in a strength of 250mg/5ml, a measuring cup & a leaflet. It is also available in 125 mg/5 mL strength suspension and 500mg capsules.

Composition: When prepared as directed, Biodroxil

Each 5 mL contains:

Cefadroxil (as monohydrate) 250mg.

Dosage: As directed by a registered medical practitioner.

Directions for preparation:

  • To make 60 ml suspension:
  • Use cold boiled water.
  • With the help of the provided measuring cup, add 20ml of water to the bottle and shake the bottle.
  • Again add 20ml of water to the bottle and shake the bottle to make 60ml suspension.
  • Reconstituted suspension is stable for 7 days at room temperature (15-30°C) or 14 days in the refrigerator (2-8°C).
  • Keep cap tightly closed.
  • Shake the bottle well before each use.

Uses/ Indications: For the treatment of the following infections when due to susceptible microorganisms:

  • Upper and lower respiratory tract infections.
  • Skin and soft tissue infections.
  • Urinary tract infections.
  • Other Infections: Osteomyelitis and Septic Arthritis.
  • The following additional indications are also present in some local markets: ENT (Ear, nose and throat) infections, Dental procedures and Infections.

Side Effects/ Adverse reactions: Commonly reported adverse reactions include Infections and Infestations.

Contraindications: Cefadroxil is contraindicated in hypersensitivity to Cefadroxil, to any of the excipients of the medicinal product, or to beta-lactam antibiotics.
