Travost Travoprost 0.004% w/v USP eye drops is a sterile ophthalmic solution of 2.5ml. It contains travoprost, a prostaglandin analogue that helps lower eye pressure by increasing the drainage of fluid from the eye.

Travoprost, a prostaglandin F, reduces the intraocular pressure by increasing the outflow of aqueous humor via the trabecular meshwork and uveoscleral pathways. Reduction of the intraocular pressure in humans starts about 2 hours after administration, and the maximum effect is reached after 12 hours.

Dosage: As directed by the physician.

Indication: Travost sterile ophthalmic solution is indicated for the decrease of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma.

Dosage & Administration: One drop of Travost Ophthalmic Solution in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) once daily. Optimal effect is obtained if the dose is administered in the evening. Nasolacrimal occlusion or gently closing the eyelid after administration is recommended. This may reduce the systemic absorption of medicinal products administered via the ocular route and result in a decrease in systemic adverse reactions.

If more than one topical ophthalmic medicinal product is being used, the medicinal products must be administered at least 5 minutes apart. If a dose is missed, treatment should be continued with the next dose as planned. The dose should not exceed one drop in the affected eye(s) daily. When substituting another ophthalmic anti-glaucoma agent with Travost Ophthalmic Solution, the other agent should be discontinued, and Travost Ophthalmic Solution should be started the following day.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any excipients of the product.

Precautions: Travoprost may gradually change the eye color by increasing the number of melanosomes (pigment granules) in melanocytes. Before treatment is instituted, patients must be informed of the possibility of a permanent change in eye color.

Unilateral treatment can result in permanent heterochromia. The long-term effects on the melanocytes and any consequences thereof are currently unknown.

The change in iris color occurs slowly and may not be noticeable for months to years. The change in eye color has predominantly been seen in patients with mixed colored irides, i.e., blue-brown, grey-brown, yellow-brown and green-brown; however, it has also been observed in patients with brown eyes.

Travoprost may gradually change eyelashes in the treated eye(s): these include increased length, thickness, pigmentation, and/or number of lashes.

Pregnancy & Lactation: Travoprost has harmful pharmacological effects on pregnancy and/or the foetus/newborn child. Travoprost should not be used during pregnancy unless clearly necessary.

Pediatric Patients (Below 18 years): The safety and effectiveness of Travoprost in pediatric patients below one year of age have not been established.

Geriatric Patients (65 years of age and above): No overall differences in safety and effectiveness have been observed between elderly patients.
