Optachlor (Chloramphenicol) 0.5% eye drops of 10 ml by REMINGTON. It is a sterile ophthalmic solution & belongs to the antibiotic category. It is used for the treatment of eye infections. It is for external use only.

Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. It is effective against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Package contains: Each Optachlor package contains eye drops in a 10 ml bottle of 0.5% in a plastic dropper bottle.

Composition: Chloramphenicol BP 0.5% w/v in preserved, buffered sterile aqueous solution.

Method of Use: For prevention and mild discomfort: Put 2-3 drops, 3 or 4 times a day.

For severe discomfort: Put 2- 3 drops every two hours, or as advised by the doctor.

Indication: Optachlor eyedrops are used for the treatment of a wide range of Eye infections caused by chloramphenicol-susceptible micro-organisms, acute and chronic conjunctivitis, iritis, keratitis, blepharitis, trachoma, uveitis and corneal ulcers.

Contra-indications: Contra-indicated in patients hypersensitive to chloramphenicol.

Warnings: Prolonged or frequent intermittent use may cause hypersensitivity reactions, including bone marrow hypoplasia, which may lead to aplastic anaemia. In case of any other side effects, seek for doctor’s help.

Instructions / Caution: Protect from sunlight, heat, and bright light. Keep in a very cool place; do not freeze. Once the bottle is opened, the medicine can be used for up to 4 weeks. Keep out of reach of children. Close the cap of its bottle tightly after using.
