Nebra

Nebra (Tobramycin) REMINGTON eye drops sterile ophthalmic solution of 5 ml. It is for external use only. Tobramycin is a water-soluble aminoglycoside antibiotic that is effective against a wide variety of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. Tobramycin is bactericidal and acts by interfering with bacterial protein synthesis.

Package Contains: Each packet of Nebra package contains eye drops in a pilfer-proof plastic dropper bottle (Gamma irradiated) & a leaflet. It is also available as a Nebra eye ointment of 5 grams.

USP Specs.

Indications: Nebra eye drops are indicated in the treatment of infections of the external eye and its adnexae caused by susceptible bacteria e g, in conditions like conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, blepharitis, dacryocystitis, palpebral abscess, prophylactic in traumatic eye injuries, and in pre- and post-operative eye conditions.

Dosage & Administration: Instill 1-2 drops into the affected eye(s) every one to four hours according to the severity of the disease. Severe Infections: Instill 2 drops into the affected eye(s) every hour until improvement occurs; dosage should be reduced prior to discontinuation.

Contraindications: Tobramycin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components.

Adverse Effects: The most frequent adverse reaction to Tobramycin is localized ocular toxicity and hypersensitivity, including lid itching, swelling, and conjunctival erythema. If topical ocular Tobramycin is administered along with systemic aminoglycoside antibiotics, care should be taken to monitor the total serum concentrations.

Over Dosage: Clinical signs and symptoms of an overdose of Tobramycin may be punctate keratitis, erythema, increased lacrimation, edema, and lid itching.

Precautions: As with other antibiotics, prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi. In case of superinfection, proper therapy should be followed.

Use in Pregnancy & Nursing Mothers: Safety of the use of this drug in pregnancy has not been established. This drug should only be used during pregnancy and by nursing mothers if clearly needed.

Caution / Instructions:  Once opened, use within 4 weeks. Protect from sunlight and heat. Store in a cool, dry place away from children’s reach. Do not freeze. ON PRESCRIPTION ONLY STORE BETWEEN 8″-30°C.
