Megamox

Megamox (Moxifloxacin Ophthalmic Solution USP 0.5% w/v) is a 5ml sterile eye drop. Its ingredient, Moxifloxacin, is a 4th-generation fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent, active against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative ocular pathogens. It is more soluble in water at neutral pH. The pH is approximately 6.8.

Dosage: As directed by the physician.

Uses: Megamox is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by the susceptible strains of the following microorganisms: Moxifloxacin is active against most strains of the following microorganisms, both in vitro and in clinical infections.

Gram-positive microorganisms: Corynebacterium species, Microbacterium species, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus haemolyticus, Micrococcus luteus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus viridians.

Gram-negative microorganisms: Acinetobacter Species, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.Other Microorganisms: Chlamydia trachomatis.

Dosage & Administration: For Adults & Children over one year of age: 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) three to four times a day for 7-14 days. For Children up to One year of age.

Side Effects: The most frequently reported adverse events in the overall study population were transient decreased vision, fever, foreign body sensation, headache, transient ocular burning, ocular pain or discomfort, pharyngitis and photophobia. Other reported reactions occurring in less than 1% of patients included allergic reactions, lid edema, ocular dryness and ocular itching.
