Lequix

Lequix (Levofloxacin U.S.P. 1.5%) by Schazoo 5ml eye drops is a broad-spectrum antibacterial sterile ophthalmic solution. It is used to treat bacterial eye infections, including corneal ulcers, caused by susceptible bacteria.

Package Contains: Each Lequix package contains 5ml eye drops in a dropper bottle & a leaflet.

Composition: Each ml contains:  Lequix

Levofloxacin (as hemihydrate)

U.S.P. 15 mg

Glycerine & WFI. May also contain Hydrochloric Acid & / or Sodium Hydroxide to adjust pH to approximately 6.5.

Uses/ indications: Lequix sterile ophthalmic solution is indicated for the treatment of corneal ulcer caused by susceptible strains of the following bacteria:

Gram-positive bacteria:

  • Corynebacterium species.
  • Staphylococcus aureus.
  • Staphylococcus epidermidis.
  • Streptococcus pneumoniae.
  • Viridans group streptococci.

Gram-negative bacteria:

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
  • Serratia marcescens.

Side Effects/ Adverse reactions: Headache, taste disturbance following instillation, Decreased/blurred vision, diarrhea, dyspepsia, fever, infection, instillation site irritation/discomfort, ocular infection, nausea, ocular pain/discomfort, throat irritation, Chemosis, corneal erosion, corneal ulcer, diplopia, floaters, hyperemia, lid edema & lid erythema.

Contraindications: Lequix sterile ophthalmic solution is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to levofloxacin, to other quinolones, or to any of the components in this medication.

Precautions & Warnings: As with other anti-infectives, prolonged use may results in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi. If superinfection occurs, discontinue use & institute alternative therapy. Patients should be advised not to wear contact lenses if they have signs & symptoms of corneal ulcer. Lequix sterile ophthalmic solution should not be injected subconjunctivally, nor should it be introduced directly into the anterior chamber of the eye. If an allergic reaction to levofloxacin occurs, discontinue use of the drug. Serious hypersensitivity reactions may require immediate emergency treatment. Oxygen and airway management should be administered as clinically indicated. Avoid contamination the applicator tip with material on the eye fingers or other source.

  • Pregnancy: Levofloxacin should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
  • Nursing mothers: Caution should be exercised when Lequix sterile ophthalmic solution is administered to a nursing mother.
  • Pediatric use: The safety & effectiveness of Lequix sterile ophthalmic solution have not been established in children below 6 years of age.

  • Protect from freezing.
  • Store below 30°C.
  • Protect from heat, light and moisture.
  • Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
  • To be used within 4 weeks after opening.
