CYCLOPEN
CYCLOPEN (Cyclopentolate HCI 1%) (B.P. Specs) 1% Ethical ophthalmic sterile solution 10 ml (eye drops). Cyclopentolate is a muscarinic antagonist (anticholinergic drug) that works by blocking certain receptors found in the eye to temporarily relax or provide short-term paralysis of the eye muscles.

Composition:
Each ml contains
Cyclopentolate HCI В.Р. 10 mg.
Indications: Cycloplegia and Mydriasis in Refraction and Diagnosis.
Diagnostic:
- Cycloplegia for refractometry in latent and facultative hyperopia.
- Mydriasis for funduscopy.
CYCLOPEN’s Action: Cyclopentolate is the agent of choice for intensive but short-lasting mydriasis and cycloplegia. It is a highly effective substance for funduscopy and for accurate refractometry in hyperopia, which results in appropriate fixed mydriasis and absolute cycloplegia to eliminate residual accomodation in hyperopia.
Cyclopen induces a maximum mydriasis after 10-20 minutes, which persists for 6-8 hours. Maximum cycloplegia is observed 40-50 minutes after the first drop has been applied. The cycloplegic effect generally disappears within 24 hours. Complete function of the eye can be restored in about two hours with the instillation of pilocarpine 2% Eye Drops.
Dosage: One or two drops as directed by the physician. See package insert for further details.
Contraindication: Glaucoma (Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that damage the optic nerve, often due to high intraocular pressure (IOP).
Warning: For topical ophthalmic use only. Not for injection.
Use in Children: Safety and effectiveness have not been established in children below 3 years of age.
Caution: Instillation of eye drops may cause transient blurring of vision. Caution should be taken when driving or operating machinery if blurred vision is experienced.
Adverse Effects: It may cause Blurred vision, light sensitivity, and stinging on application.
Use in Pregnancy: It should be carefully considered whether the potential benefit to the mother justifies the potential risk to the embryo or foetus, especially in the last three months of the pregnancy.
Instructions / Directions: Store below 30°C. Protect from heat & light. Keep out of reach of children. Once opened, use within four weeks. Read the package insert.
