Comox

Comox (Moxifloxacin 0.5%, Dexamethasone 0.1%) is a 5ml eye drop (Ophthalmic Solution Sterile). It is a combination of Moxifloxacin 0.5% and Dexamethasone 0.1%. Moxifloxacin is a fourth generation Fluoroquinolone which controls infection by inhibiting the DNA Gyrase & Topoisomerase IV. Dexamethasone, a potent corticosteroid, effectively controls the inflammation by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators.

Package Contains: Each Comox package contains a 5ml dropper bottle & a leaflet.

Composition: Each ml contains: 

Moxifloxacin: 5.0 mg

(As Moxifloxacin HCl)

Dexamethasone 1.0  mg

(As Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate)

Benzalkonium Chloride 0.01%

(as Preservative)

Manufacturer’s Specs.

Dosage: One or two drops instilled into the conjunctival sac(s), every 4 to 6 hours or as directed by the physician.

Dosage & Administration: In the prevention of postoperative ocular infection and inflammation, instill 1 drop 4 times per day, in the eye to operate from 1 day before surgery until 15 days after surgery. In patients undergoing cataract surgery, day surgery, instill the medication immediately after eye surgery. In patients undergoing refractive surgery, LASIK, the day of surgery, instill the medication at least 15 minutes after eye surgery.

In eye infections caused by susceptible microorganisms, instill 1 drop 4 times a day, 7 days or as medically indicated.

Uses/Indication: Comox is indicated for steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions for which a corticosteroid is indicated and where bacterial infection or a risk of bacterial ocular infection exists. The combination can also be used for post-operative inflammation and any other ocular inflammation associated with infection.

Side Effects/Adverse Effects: The most frequently reported drug-related undesirable effects seen with Moxifloxacin are conjunctival irritation, increased lacrimation, keratitis, papillary conjunctivitis and secondary infections due to steroid use.

Note: Protect from light, keep out of reach of children. Store between 15 to 30°C. Shake well before use. Discard after 30 days when opened.
