Mydosone Ointment

Mydosone Ointment (Prednisolone- Sulphacetamide) by Remington is a gamma-irradiated eye ointment of 3.5 G (Approx.) It is used for the treatment of ocular infection & inflammation.

Package Contains:  Each pack of Mydosone contains 3.5g eye ointment in a tube.

Composition: Mydosone Ointment

Each gram contains:

Prednisolone Acetate U.S.P 2.5 mg.

Sulphacetamide Sodium B.P 100 mg.

Directions for Use/ Dosage & Administration:

Apply one to one and a half centimeters of ointment from the tube into the lower eyelid of the affected eye or eyes, three to four times a day. The dose can be increased according to the doctor’s instructions.

Indications / Uses: Mydosone Ointment is indicated for the treatment of non-purulent inflammatory eye conditions of either bacterial or allergic in origin, like conjunctivitis, blepharitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, and others.

Prednisolone acetate is a corticosteroid that helps reduce inflammation, redness, swelling, and irritation. Sulfacetamide sodium is an antibiotic that helps treat or prevent bacterial infections.

Contra-Indications: It should not be used in patients hypersensitive to any of its components.

Warnings and Precautions: Before using, wash your hands thoroughly. Check that the tube seal is intact before first use.

  • Do not use the ointment if it has changed color, developed an unusual odor, or appears contaminated.
  • During application, avoid touching the tip of the tube to your eye, eyelid, fingers, or any surface. This helps prevent contamination.
  • Apply only the amount prescribed by your doctor. Close your eye gently after application and avoid rubbing it.
  • Eye ointments commonly cause temporary blurred vision after application. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks requiring clear vision until your sight returns to normal.
  • Do not wear contact lenses while you have an active eye infection or inflammation unless your eye doctor specifically advises otherwise.
  • If contact lens use is permitted, follow your doctor’s instructions regarding when to remove and reinsert them.
  • Do not use longer than directed by your doctor. Long-term use of the steroid component may increase eye pressure.

Warning / Note: Do not use if you are allergic or hypersensitive to any ingredient of this medicine.

  • For external use only.

Precautions:

  • Once opened, the tube should be used within 4 weeks.
  • Protect the medicine from sunlight and direct light.
  • Keep out of the reach of children, in a cool place.
