Cortate (Cortisone acetate)
Cortate otherwise known as Cortisone acetate which is the main ingredient is a corticosteroid.
Very little is known about this brand or this active ingredient as there is pretty much nothing online about it in terms of user experience.
A Pharmaceutical company by the name of Aspen Pharmacare seems to be the only one I can find that manufactures these oral tablets. 
Cortate or Cortisone acetate is in the corticosteroid family like Hydrocortisone and Prednisone.
The main reason why I find Cortate (Cortisone Acetate) a better alternative to Prednisone or Hydro-Cortisone is because of the lower side effects.
It doesn’t give you the moon face and weight gain as the other two and as you may know, that is a life changer for people on Corticosteroids. I hope more companies start producing oral forms of Cortisone acetate.
Action: How Cortate works
Cortate contains cortisone acetate as the active ingredient. It belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids which is a synthetic version of a naturally occurring cortisol hormone secreted by the adrenal glands in your body.
Naturally occurring glucocorticoids such as hydrocortisone and cortisone which also have salt-retaining properties are used as replacement therapy in adrenocortical deficiency states. They are also used for their potent anti-inflammatory effects in disorders of many organ systems. Glucocorticoids cause profound and varied metabolic effects. In addition, they modify the body’s immune response to diverse stimuli.
Cortate 5 mg contains 5 mg of cortisone acetate per tablet. Cortate 25 mg contains 25 mg of cortisone acetate per tablet.
It also contains the inactive ingredients lactose monohydrate, povidone, magnesium stearate, maize starch, and macrogol 6000 (5 mg tablet only).
Cortate tablets do not contain gluten, sucrose, tartrazine, or any other azo dyes.

Beware, not all “Cortisone” preparations are the same!

Prednisolone and prednisone (5 mg tablets!) are quite satisfactory for adrenal replacement, in the usual dose of about 5 mg am, 2.5 mg pm.
A higher dose of Florinef may be required if prednisolone rather than Cortate or Hysone is used for replacement.
Another glucocorticoid, dexamethasone is even more potent but is rarely used for replacement, in a dose of less than 1 mg per day.
The message is clear! Know your medications and check the label, no one is infallible.
