Forcon capsule (Fluconazole) is a broad spectrum antimycotic.

Composition:
Each capsule contains:
Fluconazole (B.P) 150mg

Dosage and administration: As prescribed by the physician.
Dosage in Adults:
- Oropharyngeal candidiasis: 50 mg daily for 7-14 days.
- Oesophageal candidiasis: 50 mg daily for 14-30 days.
- Vaginal candidiasis: 150 mg by mouth as a single dose.
- Systematic candidiasis: 400 mg as initial dose followed by 200mg daily for 28 days or longer based on clinical response.
- Acute cryptococcal meningitis & other cryptococcal infection: 400 mg as initial dose followed by 200mg to 400mg daily, duration of treatment depending on clinical & mycological response.
Dosage in children:
Use in children below the age of 16 is not recommended, however when the treating physician. Considers Fluconazole therapy imperative, the following daily doses for children aged 1 year & older with normal renal function are recommended.
- Superficial candidiasis infections: 1-2mg / kg.
- Systematic candidiasis infections: 3-6mg / kg.
Indication:
Fluconazole capsules are indicated for the treatment of the following conditions:
Mucosal candidiasis
Systematic candidiasis
Vaginal candidiasis
Prevention of fungal infection
Cryptococcosis
Fluconazole can be used as maintenance therapy to prevent replace of cryptococcal disease in patients with AIDS.
Contraindications: Fluconazole capsules are contraindications in patients with known hypersensitive to the drug or to related azole compounds & in advanced liver disease.
Precautions: Caution should be exercised in renal impairment, pregnancy, breastfeeding & in raised liver enzymes. The use of Fluconazole in nursing mothers is not recommended. The use of Fluconazole in children below the age of 1 year is not recommended.
Adverse effects: Fluconazole is generally well tolerated. The common side effects associated with Fluconazole are nausea, headache, skin rash, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, flatulence & elevated liver function values.
