Esozole
Esozole (Esomeprazole) contains 14 capsules of 40 mg. It reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach. ESOZOLE Capsule is an enteric-coated formulation of Esomeprazole Magnesium due to its acid-labile nature. Esomeprazole (Esozole) is the S-isomer of omeprazole, which inhibits gastric acid secretion more effectively than omeprazole. It decreases stomach acid, making the stomach less acidic.
Package Contains: Each Esozole package contains 14 capsules of 40mg & a leaflet. It is also available in 20mg capsules.

Indications / Uses: Esozole capsules are indicated for:
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).
- Treatment of Erosive Reflux Esophagitis.
- Long-term management of patients with healed esophagitis to prevent relapse.
- Symptomatic treatment of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) with out Esophagitis.
- As triple therapy Esozole plus Amoxycillin and clarithromycin for the treatment of patients with H. Pylori infection and duodenal ulcer disease (active or history of within the past 5 year).
- Healing of duodenal ulcer associated with Helicobacter pylori infection.
- Prevention of relapse of peptic ulcers in patients with Helicobacter pylori-associated ulcers.
Dosage & Administration: Esozole Capsule should be swallowed whole and should be taken at least one hour before meals. Adult dosage guidelines for ESOMEPRAZOLE (Esozole) Capsule are given in table below:

Possible Adverse Effects / Side Effects: The most frequently occurring adverse events with Esomeprazole therapy include.
- Diarrhea, nausea, flatulence, abdominal pain, constipation, and dry mouth.
Other side effects include:
- Cardiovascular: Hypertension & tachycardia.
- Gastrointestinal: Stomatitis and gastrointestinal candidiasis.
- Nervous System/Psychiatric: Confusion, depression, Dizziness.
- Endocrine: Gynaecomastia.
- Hepatic: Increased liver enzymes, hepatitis with or without jaundice & hepatic failure.
- Dermatologic: Rash, photosensitivity, toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), Stevens-Johnson syndrome, erythema multiforme & alopecia. Besides these, other adverse effects include malaise, hypersensitivity reactions like fever, bronchospasm, interstitial nephritis, increased sweating, peripheral edema, blurred vision, taste disturbance & hyponatraemia.
Contraindications: It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation or to substituted benzimidazoles.
Warning:
- Use in Pregnancy: There are no well-controlled & adequate studies in pregnant women. It should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.
- Use in Lactation: It is likely to be excreted in human milk, so esomeprazole should be used only if clearly needed.
- Pediatric Use: Safety & effectiveness of the drug has not been established in pediatric patients.
- Use in Elderly: No dosage adjustment required in elderly patients.
- Use in Renal Failure: In case of severe renal failure, the drug should be used with caution.
- Use in Hepatic Failure: Since the drug is extensively metabolized by hepatic cytochrome enzymes, so the drug should be used with caution in patients with hepatic insufficiency.
