Vita-D injection (Cholecalciferol) Vitamin D3 by HYGEIA is a 1ml x 1 ampoule IM & oral use injection. It is used for the prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiency.

Usage: As advised by the Physician.

HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE:

Dosage & Administration: In all cases, follow your doctor’s prescription. Usual dosage is:

Infants receiving vitamin-enriched milk: 1/2 ampoule (i.e. 100,000 IU) every 6 months.

Nursed infants or infants not receiving vitamin D-enriched milk, or young children up to 5 years of age.

1 ampoule (200,000 IU) every 6 months.

Adolescents: 1 ampoule (200,000 IU) every 6 months during winter.

Pregnancy: 1/2 ampoule (i.e. 100,000 IU) from the 6th to the 7th month of pregnancy.

Elderly: 1/2 ampoule (i.e., 100,000 IU) every 3 months

Digestive disorders, concomitant treatment with anti-epileptics, other particular conditions not described above: 1/2 or 1 ampoule every 3 to 6 months.

Indications / When to use this medicine?

  • This medicinal product contains vitamin D, which is involved in the bone fixation of calcium.
  • It is indicated in the prevention and treatment of vitamin D deficiencies.

Vitamin D Deficiency:

  • 1 ampoule (i.e. 200,000 IU), which can be renewed once 1 to 6 months later.
  • This medicine has been prescribed to you personally for a particular condition.
  • It cannot be adapted for another condition. Do not recommend it to another person.

Method and route of administration: IM route; the ampoule can also be administered by oral route.

What to do in the event of an overdose: In the event of an over-dosage of vitamin D, the following symptoms may occur: headache, fatigue, slimming, growing stop, nausea, vomiting, excessive urination, intense thirst, arterial hypertension.

Inform your doctor immediately: As with any medicine, the product may produce unpleasant effects of varying severity in some people. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about any unwanted or unpleasant effect which is not mentioned in this information leaflet.

Warning:

When not to use this medicine?

  • This drug must not be used in the following cases: hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients, mainly to vitamin D; hypercalcaemia (abnormally high blood calcium levels); hypercalcaemia (excessive urinary elimination of calcium); calcium lithiasis (kidney stones)
  • If you are in doubt, you must consult your doctor or your pharmacist for advice.

Special Warnings: In order to avoid any vitamin D overdose, you-should ask your doctor in case of concomitant treatment with drugs containing this vitamin, if high or repeated doses of vitamin D are administered or if high doses of calcium are associated, it is necessary to monitor calcium levels in blood and urines.

Other Interactions: To avoid possible interactions between several drugs, you must always tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other treatment you are taking.

Pregnancy and Breast-Feeding: This medicinal product can be prescribed during pregnancy or lactation if necessary. However, it is preferable to consult your doctor or pharmacist before using drugs.

Precautions: Do not refrigerate. Injection should not be used if the ampoule is leaking or it contains undissolved particles. Store in a cool, dry and dark place below 25°C.
