Indications: Volvic is indicated for:

  1. Duodenal ulcers
  2. Prevention of relapses of duodenial ulceration
  3. Begins gastric ulcer
  4. Hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome

Dosage: As directed by the physician.

Dosage & Administration: Duodenal ulcers: The recommended initial dose is 40mg of Volvic daily by mouth at bedtime, for patients 4 to 8 weeks. In most patients, healing occurs on this regimen within four weeks. A further four-week period of treatment is recommended in patients whose ulcers have not been healed completely after four weeks of treatment.

Prevention of relapses of duodenal ulceration: For the prevention of relapses of duodenal ulceration, one 20mg Volvic tablet at night is recommended.

Begins gastric ulcer: The recommended dose of Volvic is one 40mg daily taken at night. Treatment should continue for 4-8 weeks, unless endoscopy reveals earlier healing.

Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: The initial dose is one 20mg tablet of Volvic every 6 hours. Doses should be adjusted to individual patients needs and should continue as long as clinically.

Indicated: Doses up to 160mg every six hours have been administrated to some patients with severe Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome.

Side effects: it is well tolerated. Headache, dizziness, constipation, and diarrhoea have been reported rarely. Other minor side effects include dry mouth, nausea or vomiting, rash, abdominal discomfort or distention, anorexia, and fatigue.

Precautions: Consult a physician before giving it to patients having: gastric neoplasm, renal function, pregnancy & breastfeeding.

Contraindications: Itis contraindications in patients with a history of previous hypersensitivity to Famotidine. Volvic-back
