Terbiderm Forte

Terbiderm Forte (Terbinafine Tablets USP) tablets are oral antifungal agents. It is a new antifungal medicine that is effective and fast-acting for the treatment of fungal infections of the skin and nails.

Because of its specific antifungal activity against fungi, molds, and yeast, it not only cures the infections caused by them but also prevents their recurrence.

It is used for dermatophyte infections of the skin, on the foot, body hair & fungal infection of the nails.

Package contains: Each Package contains 10 film-coated tablets of 250mg & leaf inserted. It is also available as 125mg tablets.

Composition: Terbiderm-Forte

Each tablet contains:

Terbinafine 250mg.

(As Terbinafine HCI BP)

Dosage: Use as directed by the physician. For adults once a day or as prescribed by your physician. Preferable to take with meals. Not for children under 2 years of age. The dosage & duration of treatment the Terbiderm tablets varies according to the age group, indication and severity of the infection.

  • Children: (from 2 years up to 12 years) ½ tablet once daily to 1 tablet once daily.
  • Skin Infections: 2 to 6 weeks.
  • For fungal skin Infections: 2-6 weeks.
  • Body, beard, hair and head infections: 2-4 weeks.

Indication: Please see the enclosed direction circular. It is indicated for the following: Fungal infections of the skin, hair & nails are caused by dermatophytes such as Trichophyton (e.g T.Rubrum, T.Verrucosum, T.Tonsurans, T.Violaceum), Microsporum canis, and Epidermophyton floccosum.

Terbiderm Forte is indicated in the treatment of ringworm (tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, and tinea capitis) and yeast infections of the skin caused by the genus candida (e.g Candida albicans) where oral therapy is considered appropriate owing to the site, severity or extent of the infection. Onychomycosis (fungal infection of the nail) is caused by dermatophyte fungi.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to terbinafine.

Pregnancy and lactation: Oral Terbiderm should not be used during pregnancy unless the potential benefits outweigh any potential risks. Terbinafine is excreted in breast milk, therefore mothers receiving oral treatment with the medicine should not breastfeed.

Side effects: In general terbinafine is well tolerated. Side effects are mild to moderate and transient. The most common are gastrointestinal symptoms (feeling of fullness, loss of appetite, dyspepsia, nausea, mild abdominal pain, diarrhoea) or non-serious forms of skin reactions (rash, urticaria).

If progressive skin rash occurs, Terbiderm treatment should be discontinued. Rarely, it may cause taste disturbances, including taste loss, which recover within several weeks after discontinuation of the drug.
