Package contains: Each pack of Opt-D contains 1 soft gel capsule and a leaf inserted inside.

Supplement Fact/ Composition:  Opt-D

Each soft gel capsule contains:

Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D), equivalent to 200,000 IU

(NMHC Specs.)

Uses/Indication: Recommended as a dietary supplement for:

  • Supporting healthy Vitamin D levels in individuals with inadequate sun exposure or low dietary Intake (e.g., indoor professionals, veiled women, elderly individuals, or those living in polluted or colder climates).
  • Promoting bone mineralization and musculoskeletal strength (helpful in individuals prone to weak bones, joint discomfort, or reduced mobility associated with aging or sedentary lifestyle).
  • Aiding calcium absorption and maintaining optimal bone health (supportive in individuals with low bone density, menopause-related bone loss, or long-term calcium insufficiency).
  • Supporting immune function and overall well-being (particularly beneficial during seasonal infections, chronic fatigue, or low immunity states).

Mechanism of Action: Cholecalciferol is produced within the skin under the influence of UV radiation, including sunlight. In its biologically active form, cholecalciferol stimulates intestinal calcium absorption, incorporation of calcium into the osteoid, and release of calcium from bone tissue. In the small intestine, it promotes rapid and delayed calcium uptake. The passive and active transport of phosphate is also stimulated. In the kidney, it inhibits the excretion of calcium and phosphate by promoting tubular reabsorption. The production of parathyroid hormone (PTH) in the parathyroid is inhibited directly by the biologically active form of cholecalciferol. PTH secretion is inhibited additionally by the increased calcium uptake in the small intestine under the influence of biologically active cholecalciferol.

Dosage & Administration Adult dosage:

Recommended Vitamin-D intake: 5,000 IU capsule: 1 capsule daily (depending on baseline levels and physician advice) 10,000 IU capsule: 1 capsule every other day or as directed 25,000 IU capsule/month Higher doses may be needed in certain population e.g. hospitalized individuals, dark skinned individuals, individuals with limited effective sun exposure, obese individuals, patients being evaluated for osteoporosis, patients using certain concomitant medications (e.g., anticonvulsant medications, glucocorticoids), patients with malabsorption, including inflammatory bowel disease and coeliac discase.
