OPHTH-ATROPINE

OPHTH-ATROPINE (Atropine sulfate) (1.0% w/v)(USP Specification) is a 10 mL sterile ophthalmic solution. It is used to produce mydriasis (pupil dilation) and cycloplegia (temporary paralysis of the ciliary muscle, resulting in loss of the eye’s ability to accommodate/focus on near objects). Package Contains: Each OPHTH-ATROPINE package contains 10ml eye drops in a dropper bottle.

Composition:  Each ml of the product contains:

Active: Atropine sulfate USP 10 mg

Dosage: As directed by the physician.

Dosage & Administration: In individuals three (3) months of age or older, 1 drop topically to the cul-de-sac of the conjunctiva in one or both eyes as indicated, forty minutes before the intended maximal dilation time. In individuals 3 years of age or greater, doses may be repeated up to twice daily as needed. Discard the single-dose vial immediately after use in one or both eyes.

Indications / Uses: Atropine sulfate ophthalmic solution is commonly used for:

  • Mydriasis: Dilating the pupil during ophthalmic examinations and diagnostic procedures.
  • Cycloplegia: Temporarily paralyzing the ciliary muscle to prevent accommodation and assist in the accurate determination of refractive errors, particularly in children.
  • Inflammatory eye conditions: Treating conditions such as iritis and uveitis by producing cycloplegia and helping relieve pain associated with ciliary muscle spasm and preventing or reducing the formation of posterior synechiae.
  • Amblyopia: In selected cases of amblyopia (lazy eye), atropine may be used to temporarily blur vision in the stronger eye, encouraging use of the weaker eye (pharmacologic penalization).

Warnings and Precautions: Use this medicine only as directed by your doctor or eye-care professional.

  • Wash your hands before using the eye drops and avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye or any other surface.
  • Atropine may cause temporary blurred vision and increased sensitivity to light. Avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision is clear and you feel comfortable.
  • Protect your eyes from bright light or sunlight while the pupils are dilated, if needed.
  • Tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, eye pressure problems, or any other eye condition before using atropine.
  • If you wear contact lenses, ask your eye-care professional when it is safe to wear them again after using the drops.
  • Keep the medicine out of the reach of children. Accidental swallowing can be harmful.
  • If you experience severe eye pain, significant redness, unusual swelling, or changes in vision, stop using the medicine and seek medical advice promptly.
  • Keep the container properly closed and stored according to the product label. Do not use the solution if it appears contaminated or if the packaging is damaged.

Contraindications: OPHTH-ATROPINE Ophthalmic Solution, USP 1% should not be used in anyone with a demonstrated previous hypersensitivity or known allergic reaction to any ingredient in the formulation, as it may recur.  OPHTH-ATROPINE back

Use as directed by a registered medical practitioner.

Keep the container tightly closed after use.

Store up to 25°C.

After opening the bottle, store at 2°C-8″C

Protect from light.

Keep out of reach of children.
