MOXICIN

MOXICIN (Moxifloxacin HCI B.P. 0.5%) by Schazoo 5 mL eye drops is a broad-spectrum antibacterial sterile eye drop. It is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains.

Package Contains: Each MOXICIN package contains 5ml eye drops in a dropper bottle & a leaflet.

Composition: Each ml contains:

Moxifloxacin (as HCI) B.P 5 mg

Sodium Chloride, Boric Acid, Sodium Borate & W.F.I.

Dosage: As advised by the doctor.

Uses/ Indications: MOXICIN sterile ophthalmic solution is indicated for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of the following microorganisms.

Dosage & Administration: Instill one drop of MOXICIN sterile ophthalmic solution in the affected eye 3 times a day for 7 days or as directed by the physician.

  • Gram-Positive microorganisms: Corynebacterium species, Microbacterium species
    Micrococcus luteus (including erythromycin, gentamycin, tetracycline &/orquinolone resistant strains), Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus haemolyticus, Staphylococcus hominis (including methicillin, erythromycin, gentamycin, ofloxacin, tetracycline &/or trimethoprim resistant strains), Staphylococcus warneri (including erythromycin resistant strains), Streptococcus mitis & Streptococcus viridans (including penicillin, erythromycin, tetracycline &/or trimethoprim resistant strains), Streptococcus pneumoniae (including penicillin, erythromycin, gentamycin, tetracycline &/or trimethoprim resistant strains), Streptococcus viridans (including penicillin, erythromycin, tetracycline &/or trimethoprim resistant strains).
  • Gram-Negative microorganisms: Acinetobacter species, Haemophilus alconae & Haemophilus influenzae (including ampicillin resistant strains), Klebsiella pneumoniae, Moraxella catarrhalis.
    Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
  • Other microorganisms: Chlamydia trachomatis.

Contraindications: MOXICIN sterile ophthalmic solution is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin, to other quinolones, or to any of the components in this medication.

Side Effects: Side effects are generally mild & no serious ophthalmic side effects related to MOXICIN sterile ophthalmic solution have been observed. The most frequently observed effects are conjunctivitis, decreased visual acuity, dry eye, keratitis, ocular discomfort (burning/stinging), ocular hyperemia, ocular pain, ocular pruritus, subconjunctival hemorrhage & tearing.  MOXICIN back

  • Store in a cool and dry place.
  • Protect from heat, light and moisture.
  • Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
