OPHTH-DEX

OPHTH-DEX (Dexamethasone) (0.1% w/v) (usp specification) is a 5 mL sterile ophthalmic suspension. It is used to reduce inflammation, redness, swelling, itching, and irritation of the eyes.

Package Contains: Each OPHTH-DEX package contains 5ml eye drops in a dropper bottle & a leaflet.

Composition: Each ml of the product contains: OPHTH-DEX

Active: Dexamethasone.U.S.P 1mg.

Dosage & Administration: As directed by the physician.

Uses/ Indications: OPHTH-DEX ophthalmic suspension is indicated for:

Steroid responsive inflammatory conditions of the palpebral bulbar conjunctives, cornea and anterior segment of the globe such as allergic conjunctivitis, acne rosacea, superficial punctuate keratitis, herpes zoster keratitis, iritis, cyclitis, selected infective conjunctivities when the inherent hazard of steroid use is accepted to obtain an advisable diminution in edema and inflammation; acute chronic uveitis; corneal injury from chemical radiation or thermal burns or penetration of foreign bodies.

Side Effects: Extended use of topical steroids may cause increased intraocular pressure in certain individuals. It is advisable that intraocular pressure be checked frequently. In those diseases causing thinning of the cornea, perforation has been known to occur with the use of topical steroids.

Contraindications: Contraindicated in acute herpes simplex, vaccinia, and most other viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva, tuberculosis; fungal diseases; acute purulent untreated infections which, like other diseases caused by micro-organisms, may be masked or enhanced by the presence of the steroid.

Warning:

  • Prolonged use may result in glaucoma, damage to the optic nerve, defects in visual activity and visual field, cataract formation.
  • Secondary ocular infections may develop due to suppression of host response.
  • Usage of Ophthi-Dex in the treatment of diseases causing thinning of cornea or sclera. Required great caution, since perforation may occur.
  • Use in the treatment of herpes simplex requires great caution.

Use as directed by a registered medical practitioner.

Store up to 25°C. Shake well before use.

Discard one month after first opening.

Keep out of reach of children.
