Ocumox-D

Ocumox-D (Moxifloxacin & Dexamethasone Phosphate) by Remington is a 5ml (approx) sterile ophthalmic solution eye drops. It is a sterile isotonic ophthalmic solution that combines moxifloxacin hydrochloride and dexamethasone sodium phosphate. Patients who may benefit from the topical combined therapy with an anti-infective agent and anti-inflammatory agent include patients who have undergone ocular surgery, such as cataract extraction and refractive surgery.

Package Contains: Each Ocumox-D package contains eye drops in a dropper bottle of approximately 5 mL and a leaflet.

Composition:  Ocumox-D

Each ml contains:

Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride B.P equivalent to Moxifloxacin 5 mg.

Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate U.S.P. equivalent to Dexamethasone Phosphate 1 mg.

Inactives: Boric acid, Edetate disodium, Sodium chloride, Sorbitol & Tyloxapol. May also contain Hydrochloric acid and / or Sodium hydroxide to adjust pH.

Uses: Ocumox-D is indicated for the treatment of ocular infections caused by susceptible microorganisms and in the prevention of inflammation and bacterial infection that may occur after ocular surgery.

Dosage & Administration: To prevent post-surgery inflammation and infection, instill 1 drop 4 times per day in the eye to be operated, starting 1 day before the surgery and during 15 days after the surgery. In patients submitted to cataract surgery, instill the solution immediately after the surgery. In patients submitted to refractive surgery by LASIK, instill the solution within 15 minutes after the surgery. In the ocular infection caused by susceptible organisms, instill 1 drop 4 times per day during 7 days, or as directed by the ophthalmologist.

Side Effects: Adverse reactions that may occur with use of corticosteroids are: glaucoma with optic nerve damage, visual acuity defects, and visual field defects; cataract formation; secondary ocular infection following suppression of host response; and perforation of the globe. The most frequently ocular adverse effects reported with the use of moxifloxacin ophthalmic solution 0.5% are conjunctivitis, decreased visual acuity, dry eye, keratitis, ocular discomfort, ocular hyperaemia, ocular pain, ocular pruritus, subconjunctival haemorrhage and tearing.

These events occurred in approximately 1-6% of patients. In surgical procedures, some of these events are a consequence of the surgery. Non-ocular adverse events reported at a rate of 1-4% were fever, increased cough, infection, otitis media, pharyngitis, rash and rhinitis.
