Xecomb

Xecomb (Triamcinolone Acetonide, Neomycin Sulfate, Gramicidin, Nystatin) is an otic drop of 10ml. The ear drops are antifungal, antibiotic, and corticosteroid. Nystatin is an antifungal produced by the growth of Streptomyces noursei, used in the treatment of infections caused by Candida albicans and other Candida species.

Neomycin is a broad-spectrum antibacterial produced by Streptomyces fradiae, effective against a wide range of gram-negative bacilli and some gram-positive bacteria. Gramicidin is an antibacterial polypeptide produced by Bacillus brevis. It is applied topically in ear infections due to susceptible gram-positive organisms. Triamcinolone Acetonide is a powerful anti-inflammatory glucocorticoid.

Package contains: Each Xecomb contains a otic (ear) dropper bottle of 10ml and a leaflet.

Composition: Each ml contains:

Triamcinolone Acetonide U.S.P. 1.0mg

Neomycin U.S.P. base (as Sulfate) 2.5mg

Gramicidin U.S.P. 0.25mg

Nystatin U.S.P. 100,000 units.

Dosage: As directed by the physician.

Dosage & Administration: 2 to 3 drops into the affected ear(s) two to three times daily or as directed by the physician.

Uses: It is used for otitis external (acute and chronic) with or without active infections due to susceptible organisms.

Contraindications: Tuberculous lesions and viral lesions such as herpes simplex, vaccinia, and varicella.In the treatment of otitis media or in the presence of a perforated tympanic membrane. Ophthalmic use is contraindicated. Known hypersensitivity to any of the components.

Precautions: Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms. In such conditions use of the preparation should be discontinued and appropriate therapy initiated.

Side Effects: No serious side effects reported. Local hypersensitivity reactions may occur with Neomycin. Absorption of Gramicidin with topical administration has not been reported.
