MomFolic

MomFolic (L-Methyl Folate) 30 tablets of 600 mcg is a nutraceutical supplement and is not for the treatment of any disease. L-Methyl Folate is the active, bioavailable form of vitamin B9 (folate) that the body can use directly. It is used for healthcare needs, especially during pregnancy and in nutritional deficiency states.

Package Contains: Each MomFolic package contains 30 tablets of 600 mcg and a leaflet.

Composition:  Each tablet contains:  MomFolic

L-Methyl Folate 600mcg

(as Calcium L-5-Methyltetrahydofolate USP)

Dosage & Administration: As a dietary supplement for adults, take one tablet daily, preferably with meal or use as directed by the healthcare professional.

Uses/ Indications: L-Methyl Folate is a dietary supplement for use in people who have conditions related to folate deficiency. MomFolic Tablets contain L-Methyl Folate, used to treat or prevent low folate levels. Low folate levels can lead to certain types of anemia. Conditions that can cause low folate levels include poor diet, pregnancy, alcoholism, liver disease, certain stomach/intestinal problems, and kidney dialysis, among others.

Women of childbearing age should receive adequate amounts of folic acid either through their diet or supplements to prevent infant spinal cord birth defects.

Side Effects: A very serious allergic reaction to this product is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), dizziness, trouble breathing.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS:
General:

  • Folic acid, when administered in daily doses above 0.1mg, may obscure the detection of B12 deficiency (specifically, the administration of folic acid may reverse the hematological manifestations of B12 deficiency, including pernicious anemia, while not addressing the neurological manifestations). L-Methyl Folate may be less likely than folic acid to mask vitamin B12 deficiency. Folate therapy alone is inadequate for the treatment of a B12 deficiency.
  • Folic acid, when administered in daily doses above 800 mcg, may increase the amount of unmetabolized folic acid, which has been linked to accelerated growth of existing neoplasms in the colon. L-Methyl Folate may be less likely than folic acid to accelerate the growth of existing neoplasms.

Avoid using MomFolic Tablets if:
Some medicines may interact with L-Methyl Folate. Discuss with a healthcare professional if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

  • Cholestyramine, colchicine, colestipol, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (eg, ibuprofen), or sulfasalazine because they may decrease L-Methyl Folate’s effectiveness.
  • Fluorouracil, because the risk of its side effects may be increased by L-Methyl Folate.
  • Barbiturates (eg, phenobarbital), carbamazepine, hydantoins (eg, phenytoin), primidone, or valproic acid because they may decrease L-Methyl Folate’s effectiveness; their effectiveness may also be decreased by L-Methyl Folate.
  • Pyrimethamine, because its effectiveness may be decreased by L-Methyl Folate.
  • If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • If you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement.
  • If you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances.
  • If you have anemia or low levels of vitamin B12 in blood.
  • Check with your healthcare professional before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

SPECIAL POPULATION, Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
MomFolic Tablets are safe to take during pregnancy when used as suggested. Certain spinal cord birth defects may be prevented.
Folic acid passes into breast milk but is unlikely to harm a nursing infant. Consult a healthcare professional before breastfeeding.
