Cefprox

Cefprox (CEFPODOXIME) is an orally administered, semi-synthetic antibiotic tablet.

Package contains:  Each package contains 1X10 tablets of 200mg. It is also available as Cefprox 100mg tablets and granules for oral suspension.

Composition:

Each film coated tablet contains:

Cefpodoxime proxetil equivalent to Cefpodoxime 200mg.

Dosage: 1 to 2 tablets twice daily or as directed by the Physicians. It should be administered orally with food to enhance absorption.

Indications and Usage: Cefprox is indicated for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms in the condition listed below:

Lower respiratory tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases, skin and skin structure infections, upper respiratory tract infections, and urinary tract infections.

Contraindications: Cefprox is contraindicated in patients with a known allergy to cefpodoxime or to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics.

Pregnancy-Teratogenic Effects: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies of cefpodoxime proxetil use in pregnant women: this drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.

Labour and Delivery: Cefprox has not been studied for use during labor and delivery treatment should only be given if clearly needed.

Nursing Mothers: It is excreted in human milk. Because of the potential for serious reactions in nursing infants, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.

Storage: Store between 15°C-30°C). Keep away from heat, moisture, light, and children.
