Indications: It is used to treat type 2 diabetes by preventing the absorption of glucose. It improves the glycemic control in patients of type 2 diabetes mellitus.

It can lower the blood pressure, so can be used to lower the cardiovascular mortality in patients of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is used to reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack.

Side Effects: It can cause dehydration, dizziness, lightheadedness, weakness, yeast infection, low blood sugar, nausea and upper respiratory infection. It can cause frequent, burning and painful urination.

Precautions: Not recommended for the patients on dialysis. Not recommended to the patients of type 1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis.
